Onboard your business as a merchant

Get started as a merchant on Alipay+ Mini Program Platform. This guide walks you through the onboarding process, enabling you to access workspaces where you can build and manage mini programs for Alipay+ partner apps and Alipay China.

Note: Only business owners or administrators need to complete the initial onboarding. After your merchant workspace is set up, you automatically become the owner with full permissions and can invite other team members to join.

Before you begin

Ensure you have the following:

  • Authorization to register your business (owner or admin access)
  • A valid email address to sign up
  • Your business certificate and other relevant details

Onboarding process overview

The merchant onboarding process consists of four main steps, as illustrated in the following diagram:

Step-by-step onboarding

Step 1: Create an account

  1. Navigate to the Alipay+ Mini Program Platform sign-up page.

Tip: If you are on the platform homepage, click LOG IN, and then select Sign up under the login form.

  1. Complete the sign-up form with your details.
  2. Read and agree to the terms of service.
  3. Click Sign Up.
  4. A confirmation dialog appears. After five seconds, you are automatically logged in and redirected to the workspace application page.

Note: After creating your account, save your login credentials securely. You can log out and return to the portal at any time to resume the process. Your account remains active.

Step 2: Apply for a workspace

Note:

  • You cannot save your progress as a draft. Complete the application in one session.
  • To review or modify information from a previous step during the application process, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Previous Step.

On the workspace application page, complete the following steps to apply for a workspace:

  1. Select your role

To access workspace functionalities suitable for you, confirm your role by clicking Select on the Merchant choice card.

  1. Complete the application form
    1. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the application form. Note that:
      • The Legal Company Name you enter becomes your workspace name.
      • For optional fields, consider their relevance to decide whether to complete them or not:
        • Business Logo: Upload an image to use as your workspace logo. If you leave it blank, the platform uses a default logo.
        • Additional Company Contacts: Provide alternative contacts. Reviewers might contact these individuals to verify business details if you are unavailable.
    1. Click Next Step.
  1. Review and submit
    1. Verify that all entered information is accurate.
    2. Click Submit Application to send your workspace application request to Alipay+.
    3. You are directed to the workspace application status page, showing that your request is under review.

Step 3: Check your application result

The workspace application review usually takes 1 to 2 business days. You will be notified of the result via:

  • Approved: Proceed to Step 4.
  • Rejected: Read the rejection reason, address the issues, and repeat Step 2 to submit a new application.

Step 4: Get started

Complete the following tasks to begin using the platform.

Access Alipay+ Mini Program Platform

  1. Log in to Alipay+ Mini Program Platform with your account.
  2. Wait for a few seconds for your workspace to initialize.
  3. You will enter your workspace as the owner with full permissions. You can now:
    • Invite team members to collaborate.
    • Access merchant-specific tools and functionalities.
    • Start creating and developing mini programs.

(Optional) Set your password for Alipay Open Platform (支付宝开放平台)

Alipay Open Platform allows you to manage and release your mini program to Alipay China. If your company is not registered on this platform, an account is created automatically using the same email address you use for Alipay+ Mini Program Platform.

Take the following steps to secure your account and set a password:

  1. Check your inbox and open the email with the subject line Action Required: Set Your Alipay Open Platform Password.
  2. Click the password reset link in the email.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
